I'm primarily building Omarchy for those, like me, who are switching from Mac or Windows. That's how we grow the Linux pie!
But it's also wonderful to see long-term Linux users make the switch. There is so much wisdom and lore in this community I'm still learning, and we can build something better all together.

I've only been on Linux for 18 months, so it's a real point of pride that Omarchy appeals to both recent converts and long-time Linux users alike. Beautiful, fun, and simple software for all βοΈ

@BrendanEich Anyway, Brendan has had the last laugh. Brave is thriving, Mozilla is floundering. But it still wasn't right. And I'm embarrassed for letting it happen like it did back then. We all should be. And we should say
"never again" and "I'm sorry, Brendan". I am. Sorry.

@BrendanEich Maybe we could have nipped the entire thing in the bud if we had stood up for Brendan back then. Maybe if we had realized the utter retardation in asking everyone to account for every personal opinion or donation they ever made at work, we could have avoided a lot of shit.

It's funny because this actually WAS how I started my Linux journey! But I've long since stopped being mad about it. In fact, I'm grateful to Apple for nudging me to try something else, and thus leading me to another true Rails-level passion with Omarchy π

The @FrameworkPuter conquest of the web sphere continues unabated. Between the Framework 13 and the Framework Desktop, they have an unbelievably strong one-two punch for THE YEAR OF LINUX ON THE DESKTOP (*THIS TIME IT'S FOR REALS, EDITION).

@37signals What I'm talking about here is not "15 minutes to do a deploy". I'm talking "15 minutes from you put together your new Framework to Omarchy is installed, 37s apps are setup, and you could do a kamal deploy with a change in the time that's left on the clock"!

Here's the full internal announcement for @37signals going ALL IN on Omarchy. And ALL IN on getting new developers ready to deploy changes to Basecamp and HEY in 15 minutes or less. Everything can and should be doable in that time. VAMOS! π https://t.co/g0eZXreDKO

Next version of Omarchy will ship with a micro fork of Chromium that gives us live theme switching! Fantastic job by @hjanuschka to land this as omarchy-chromium-bin on the AUR. Open source is amazing π https://t.co/lniqUqQZGE

But who knows, I also thought Ruby was forever going to be niche when I released Rails. But we got Early Majority and a good part of Late Majority there! Now billions of dollars have been created from something that started out very niche. Hard to predict, the future is!

Omarchy is never likely to appeal to late majority/laggards, though. It's too focused on developers willing to take ownership of their computer. So will always be somewhat niche. But targeting innovators + early adopters is still 15% of the dev market. That's plenty!

There are some great makers of modern hardware for Linux, like @FrameworkPuter and @Beelinkofficial, but the real truth is that the world already has a ton of computers that would run Omarchy amazingly. Dust it off, save it from obsolence!

Following up on this story to say that I may have connected Adam with @cmonkey (Framework uses Tailwind!!), and there may be a @FrameworkPuter on the way to run Omarchy π

It's incredible how quickly open source can move when you set your mind to it. This bounty was posted just three days ago! Now we're setting up official Omarchy build servers to keep the mini-fork in sync with upstream. Gotta love X π€https://t.co/s82RQSmz0P

Omarchy Chromium mini-fork w/ live theme updates is ready! Going into next release of Omarchy (which will wait on AUR having time to recover). Then working on landing this upstream with the help of our friends (@addyosmani π) from Google. @hjanuschka will claim the bounty.

The AUR has had a great uptime record, so while I don't think it has anything to do with the Omarchy surge, I apologize if that actually is the cause! And redouble my commitment to fund whatever shortfalls there may be on infrastructure. AUR is a diamond in Arch's crown π https://t.co/iYBoCjBfbU
