What the hell is Apple doing?
*Failed to make a car
*No AI investments
*Siri still sucks
*just releasing the same phone over and over again

Turns out the greatest startup idea of the last 10 years was a chatbot where you ask a question and it answers with something a guy wrote on Reddit 8 years ago

dumb question but why do so many FB & apple ads make it seem like cool black people are their target demo?
is that actually their demo?
is it just DEI marketing?
or is it because they believe the masses are influenced by cool black people?

Am I dumb to buy a home without an agent?
If I'm selling my house, I want an agent.
But buying -- why do I need one?
Zillow to search for listings. @somewherehiring assistant to plan tours
Thinking of just paying flat fee $10k for paperwork vs. $100k+ agent commission

Can someone with a better brain than me explain what @saylor is doing?
A) no strategy is without risk. What are the risks? What’s the math — if btc drops to $X it becomes a problem?
B) why is the stock at such a premium to the NAV?

new essay: Elon's Philly Special (@elonmusk)
Remember the "Philly Special"?
It's was the Superbowl, 2018.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Patriots
Philly is the underdog vs. Tom Brady.
With 1 minute left before half.. they pulled off what's now known as the "Philly Special":

the biggest poker tell is what metrics you choose to share
If you share a vanity metric when you could have shared a substantive one, it’s an obvious tell you don’t have real metrics

If I gave you $1M to invest in any tech company
... but the rule is, you ONLY get paid if the valuation goes 5X in the next 5 years.
Who would you pick?
My top picks for this 3 years ago:
- Anduril (hit)
- Rippling (hit)
- Figma (miss)
- Replit (miss, but still bullish)

How do you become the type of person who makes great decisions?
I fill this out everytime I make a major decision (eg. big investment, start/sell a company, etc.)
Then I re-visit it ~1 year later and look at my line of thinking. Without writing it down, I lie to myself later https://t.co/xDxGW02HRF

The optimal Poker strategy:
- start when you’re young. Low stakes, high brain plasticity
- play for JUST long enough (~2 years) to fully internalize (thru painful mistakes) all the big lessons (strategic things like range, image, pot odds, bankroll mgmt etc and psychological things like handling tilt, not chasing losses)
- then stop playing completely and use that brain energy on projects (eg business or investing) that have much higher upside without the degen lifestyle/degen peers
- then again return to it for casual social competition with friends

Whenever I hear someone wants "life balance", I know they will end up dissapointed.
Not only is life balance nearly impossible to have -- it's the wrong goal. They're shooting at the wrong target.
Here's how I think about it isntead..:
